When the body moves by way of water retention, rather than focusing on other important body functions such as, burning of calories and maintaining important body functions, you will gain weight. Therefore, hydration is important to keep your metabolism working properly. You must ensure that you drink enough water every day. You can accomplish this by these four ways below:

1. Cut down on the caffeine
You should try to limit the caffeine you consume, but you do not have to give up your morning coffee. For example, if you drink a can of cola a day, maybe try to do it every two days. Caffeine is a diuretic, that is it will dehydrate your body if you consume it too much. All caffeine-containing beverages will dehydrate the cells of your body and waste needed water for your body's cellular reactions.

2. Drink different!
The body needs a certain amount of water each day. You do not need to drink clean water at all times. You could drink juice, low sugar sodas, different teas (without caffeine) and other beverages with low sugar and without caffeine.

3. Water bottles
This is a great way to ensure that you are using the liquid at all times. Take it with you when you are on the road while you work, or anywhere else to go and add if necessary.

4. Rehydrate after training
You lose lots of fluids after strenuous exercise. You should replace it by drinking extra water after your routine.

Water alone does not increase your metabolism. However, keep your body hydrated to ensure that your metabolism works properly. This will maximize the effectiveness of other actions to improve your metabolism. Mixing water with a good diet and exercise can help you get excellent results.
