For whatever reason, people get it in their mind that when they do decide to lose weight, it should be done quickly. This is such a huge mistake! Sure, you're probably excited to shed a few pounds or finally start using that gym membership but its not only very unhealthy to lose weight too fast, you have a high chance of gaining it all back and then some.
When you cut too many calories out of your diet, your metabolism slows down significantly so when you do add a normal amount of food back to your diet, you gain weight because your body's so used to fighting to work on a smaller amount of calories. There are Medifast diet coupons available that can be used for a program that can help you lose weight at a healthy pace while feeding your body the nutrients that it needs. So, why is rapid weight loss so bad for you?
- Dehydration – If your body loses water sources before it can start burning fat, one of two things will occur. Either you will become dehydrated or you will retain water. If your kidneys don't receive enough water, your liver has to help them work which means it can't do it's own job of turning fat into energy.
- Malnutrition – Your body needs an appropriate amount of vitamins and minerals to properly function. These essential nutrients play key roles in the health of your brain, nervous system, bones, organs and cells.
- Fatigue – Your body needs nutrients to provide you with energy. Ideally, you will actually eat five to six small meals throughout the day so your cells and organs are constantly receiving a steady supply of vitamins and minerals. When you cut too many calories, your body goes into survival mode and holds onto the food you eat rather than using it for important functions or supplying you with energy.
- Appearance – Losing an excessive amount of weight in a short period of time will actually wreak havoc on your appearance. Not only does your hair, skin and nails become dull and often brittle, you make yourself vulnerable to stretch marks and flabby skin. You need to build muscle while you shed weight so you don't end up with extra folds of skin and also when your skin shrinks or expands too quickly, stretch marks are prevalent which are certainly not easy to get rid of!
Starting a new diet can be exciting but you can only really be successful long-term if you do it right. Be safe, allow your body to lose weight at a slow pace and the pounds are more likely to stay off. Not to mention, you'll feel and look a lot better!

One of the most popular but least understood sports supplements on the market is creatine monohydrate. Creatine is a compound that is made naturally in our liver, kidneys and pancreas, before being secreted into the blood and transported to tissues. It acts as an energy replenisher, and its chemical name is methylguanido-acetic acid.
It has a few key benefits, the first of which is that it replenishes ATP. This is the molecule that's broken down to release energy for muscles to contract. A study has shown that more ATP can be stored from creatine than from food, and because muscles can store ATP, this allows you to maximise the amount stored in your body. It gives you more energy to lift heavier weights, train harder and at a higher intensity. Creatine also promotes muscle growth by stimulating the synthesis of proteins. The more creatine stored in a muscle, the more water is drawn into it making it fuller and stronger. Increasing the volume of muscles in this way helps to trigger protein synthesis, minimise protein breakdown and increase glycogen synthesis. If a muscle is trained properly it could also lead to enhanced muscle growth.
It can act as a lactic acid buffer too, which will help improve exercise recovery time. Lactic acid is a bi-product of anaerobic exercise, such as weight training, when oxygen doesn't reach the muscles. It's lactic acid which produces the burning sensation when a muscle is tired. Creatine helps to delay the onset of fatigue by acting as a buffer for the lactic acid. Creatine can help you gain weight too, which is a result of an increase in muscle tissue. The biggest increases are usually seen during the first month of its use.
Creatine monohydrate is the most popular form of creatine, because its virtually tasteless, dissolves well in water and is the most effective.
Whilst numerous studies show that the use of creatine monohydrate is safe, even in large quantities, there are some side effects. It can cause mild irritation to the stomach and nausea for a short while, due to the amount of water retention caused by taking the supplement. This can be unpleasant, but is harmless and minimised if you consume lots of fluid.

In a climate where the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) are dubious as to whether diet pills can be safe enough for consumption, surgery has become even more popular. The latest advancement is that of the stomach pacemaker.
The pacemaker works like a heart pacemaker where a stimulator and sensor are placed into the stomach. The stimulator makes the brain and the stomach feel full. As soon as one begins to eat, the stimulator begins to work. The patient feels full after a certain amount of food and then weight loss becomes a possibility.
Out of 65 patients who have had the implant, half have kept it off for a year at least and not have only lost 20% of their original weight but have also managed to keep it off. This sounds like a breakthrough weight loss treatment but surely a 20% weight loss sounds too good to be true.
Some worry that the patients will get used to the impulses over time and that they will continue to eat as normal once they are without the pacemaker. Some doctor’s respond by saying that all patients will find a way around it if they really want to but that if you make the device more aggressive for example, if the device were to make the patient throw up every time they wanted to eat, then the patient would not be taught how to gain control over their eating habits.
Will it be a crutch that patients will not be able to live without or is it something that obese patients will use to learn how to adapt to a way of eating less. What about the psychological reasons that patients have for overeating. When they come off the pacemaker and there are issues that are unresolved, will they not find themselves back at square one? At a time when diet pills are perceived as our worst enemy, are there other options?

When wrinkles and crow’s feet mar the beauty of your face, you sure need to find a solution, and fast. Facial muscle contractions are often the cause of such lines and wrinkles. If this is the cause of your bother, you may consider botox treatment – non-invasive procedure to inject the toxin derived from Chlostridium botulinum.
Here is a quick guide to the concerns that may bother you in this regard.
Is it easy?
This involves an initial consultation with your doctor to assess eligibility and know the details of the procedure. If you feel that it is the right treatment for you, you may take these injections at a clinic or healthcare facility. The process takes approximately 20-30 minutes.
Note: You may return to daily activities within a day. However, you need to refrain from strenuous activities. You need to avoid exposure to the sun and touching the area.
Is it effective?
The effects of Palm Beach Botox are perceptible within a few days of treatment. There is a significant reduction in frown lines and crow’s feet, and such other lines from muscular contraction. The effects stay for 4-6 months. Consult your doctor to know how frequently you would need the injections.
Is it safe?
Use of botox to treat lines and wrinkles in the forehead region has been popular for many years. The approval from the Food and Drug Administration marks the safety of botox for cosmetic procedures. The only criterion you must keep in mind is to get a certified medical practitioner for this treatment.
Note: You may experience slight side effects like swelling and redness, headache, and so on. This goes away within days.
Is it painful?
The only pain you would experience at the time of injections is similar to that of an insect bite, like a bee sting. If you are not very sure about this, ask your doctor to apply a topical anesthesia before the procedure. If you experience excessive pain later, report it immediately to your doctor.
Is it expensive?
Like most cosmetic procedures, botox too involves costs. This is perhaps the only downside of the treatment. However, when you weigh the difference this can make to your appearance with the cost, you are sure to understand the secret behind the popularity of botox.
If any other concerns bother you, find a reputed medical practitioner, get answers to your queries, and clarify your doubts regarding the treatment.

It can be difficult and frustrating trying to lose weight. There is so much information and misinformation. Millions of different products and services that tell you that only their way will work. Expensive foods and supplements that help you lose weight. The latest fad exercises.
What you actually need is to make permanent life style changes that are relatively easy to incorporate into your current lifestyle. That way you will actually stick with them. That is why losing weight slowly is often recommended. If you go all guns blazing, it is likely that you will soon return to your old ways.
Here are some simple tips that you can easily incorporate into your lifestyle to help you lose weight and keep it off. Read these a few times right now, then pin them up in a prominent place so you can look at them every day as a reminder. I like to stick these things on my fridge with a magnet.
1) Give yourself definite rules. Vague rules won't really help you lose weight. Saying 'I must exercise more' can't really be followed. It is far more useful to say something like 'I will go to the gym every Monday, Wednesday and Friday'; and 'I will only eat chocolate on a Saturday'.
2) Eat slower. It takes time for our brains to register that our stomach is full. Eating more slowly gives your brain more time to register when it is satisfied.
3) Change your milk. Swap whole milk for semi-skimmed, or semi-skimmed for skimmed.
4) Eat only when hungry. A lot of people eat before they are hungry. Our bodies know how much fuel we need, and tells us by triggering feelings of hunger. Eating before you are hungry means over eating which leads to weight gain. There is nothing wrong with feeling a little hungry between meals.
5) Leave something with every meal, even if it's just a small amount. Many people eat too much because they were brought up to eat everything on their plate and not waste food. This is a war time mentality that no longer applies! Leaving something on the plate with every meal keeps you in the habit of leaving some food when you are satisfied.
6) Discover why you overeat. If you eat out of boredom, then find new ways to entertain yourself. Perhaps taking up a sport could ease the boredom, and you will also burn off extra calories. If you have other problems such as a lack of confidence or low self esteem, then find a way of dealing with them. Accept that life is hard and challenging, and face them challenges. Hypnotherapy can help.
7) Be more active. Try to find some exercise that you enjoy. If you enjoy them then you are more likely to keep doing them. Some people like going to the gym, whereas other people prefer playing competitive sports. We are all different so try and find what works best for you. Try to incorporate more activity into your daily life, such as walking or cycling to work.
8) Eat smaller portions. Have smaller portions of the food. It often helps to use smaller plates in order for it to seem that your portion sizes are the same as before.
9) Avoid carbohydrates in the evening. Avoid foods with high levels of carbohydrates in the evenings. These include foods such as bread, potatoes, rice, and any sugary snacks. Just because they are low in fat doesn't mean that they don't contain a lot of calories that you will store as fat.
10) Read foods labels. It is quite surprising how many foods imply that they are low in calories or sugar when in reality they are not. 'Low fat' mayonnaise still typically contains around 40% fat. If you don't read up on the nutritional values of food items then you could be consuming more calories than you think.
11) Reduce sugary drinks. The calories in sugary drinks can add up without you really thinking about it. Try weaning yourself on black coffee with no sugar. Even natural fruit juice drinks contain a lot of calories, so only drink these in small quantities as they do contain useful vitamins for health. Try drinking a few glasses of water per day and opting for sugar free drinks. If you must drink alcohol then try drinks such as vodka or whiskey neat, or with low calorie mixers.
12) Enjoy life. Find plenty of hobbies and things to do that you enjoy. Get passionate about things. You will feel happier, more confident, and you will be occupied. A large amount of people that over eat do so because of boredom, plus you will burn at least some calories pursuing these hobbies.
Set yourself some definite rules that you will stick to and write them down and look at them every day. Also read through this list every day. Eventually these life changes will become part of your normal daily routine. It usually takes about 3 weeks of consciously trying to change habits for them to become embedded into your mind. Just keep reminding yourself of these rules for 3 weeks. Even mark it on a calender if you wish. If you slip up every now and then, that is fine, just don't give up - keep going!

We all want beautiful, shiny, healthy hair, but we can’t expect to bask in the glory of it if we aren’t treating it right. Getting that glossy hair that falls just right around your face can be easy if you follow these tips for what you should do and shouldn’t do to your tresses.

DON’T wash your hair every day
Washing your hair on a daily basis can dry it out which puts you in danger of more breakage and more frequent trips to the salon due to split ends. Shampooing daily washes out the natural oils your hair follicles make that keep your hair shiny and silky.
DON’T style with heat every day
Skip blow dryers and flat irons a few times a week. It’s a myth that hair can handle the heat we apply to it. Most hair can burn at 410F and some hair appliances get that hot. Give your hair a break and let it air dry completely a few times a week or just use appliances for a touch up.
DO use a wide tooth comb on wet hair
Since wet hair is more easily stretched and snapped, use a wide tooth comb to get out those tangles instead of a brush which is harsher on the wet follicles. Be sure to be gentle with your comb. It is less likely to break hair than a brush, but with enough force, it could do damage too.
DO know how you sleep
If you are a restless one who moves around a lot during the night, try using a satin pillowcase. These will allow the hair to move more freely and reduce breakage. Be sure to remove all clips and hair elastics when you put head to pillow, too.
DON’T overuse chemicals
Perms, colors, and chemical straighteners are just as damaging and burn your hair much the same as blow dryers and curling irons. Try to apply chemicals to your hair as little as possible. If you do have chemically-treated hair, use a deep conditioner to counteract the harmful affects of them.
DO eat foods your hair likes
Believe it or not, some kinds of foods can do wonders for your hair. Make sure you are getting appropriate doses of these:
Salmon – This fish is essential to the diet of anyone looking for shiny, strong hair as it contains Omega-3 fatty acids that support scalp health. Eating salmon on a regular basis will reduce your chances of a dry scalp .
Dark green vegetables – That’s right, moms, now you have a legitimate reason for why your kids must eat their vegetables…they are good for your hair! Dark greens like spinach, Swiss chard and broccoli help the body to produce sebum, which is a natural conditioner secreted by hair follicles.
Beans – Beans, beans, the magical…hair care treatment. Legumes provide the protein that your hair needs to stimulate hair growth and they are rich in zinc, biotin, and iron too. Eat a few cups of kidney or black beans every week and your hair might begin to grow like a beanstalk.
So take this advice and put yourself on the right road to healthier, shinier, stronger hair. Most importantly, listen to your hair! It will tell you when it needs some TLC. Static means you need to use more moisturizing product and skip the hair dryers for a week or so. If your hair snarls and breaks when you try to run a brush or comb through it, it’s time for a trim to get those split ends off. With these tips, you should see noticeable differences and be your way to beautiful tresses in no time.

Exfoliation is a way of sloughing and removing the dead cells from the body surface. With the help of this process, it is possible to get rid of excess oil from the epidermis. There are a number of ways to exfoliate the body but application of body scrubs is certainly the most effective. The type and concentration of the scrub varies depending on the part of the body it is applied. For instance, the body scrub used for the face should have a soft and gentle impact where as those meant for feet should be hard, in order to remove the dirt easily.
Choosing the right Body Scrub
Before choosing the body scrub for exfoliation, it is important to consider the individual skin type. There are specific body scrubs meant for oily skin, dry skin as well as to control wrinkle and acne problems. Scrubs containing olive oil, almond help in moisturizing the skin, deal with the problems of the dry skin. People with oily skin can opt for scrubs containing acidic solutions in the form of apricot, papaya and pineapple extracts. Oatmeal scrub is the best option for sensitive skin.
To look glamorous and to adopt a celebrity lifestyle we often choose body scrubs endorsed by famous celebrities. However, it is essential to check the composition of the body scrub before using it because some of them contain chemicals that can have an adverse effect on the skin. If anyone suffering from acne applies scrubs containing chemicals, it can cause a lot of damage to the skin. Chemical scrubs are very effective in curing pimples and acne within a short time, as they are rich in salicylic acid. But in the long run it can have a negative impact on the skin.
Benefits of Body Scrub
· It helps to peel off the dead skin from the surface of the skin
· It open the pores and allows the skin to breathe
· Applying body scrub can help in removing pre-cancerous growths on the face
· It is the most effective way to tighten the skin
· It helps in polishing the skin as well as make it smooth and soft
It is recommended to use body scrub at least once or twice a week. A body scrub is the most beneficial home beauty therapy as it is easy to use. Moisten the area before applying the scrub in gentle circular strokes for few minutes. Choose the right body scrub suitable for the skin to retain the natural look and feel of the skin for longer period of time.

Whether it is for health or aesthetic reasons, you need a qualified and experienced surgeon to complete a breast surgery. These doctors may be general surgeons, or specialists in oncology or cosmetic procedures. Which type of specialist would be suitable for the job depends on what your problem is.
Health conditions like tumors require specific tests and treatments. Understanding whether it is benign or malignant, i.e. does or does not contain cancerous tissue, and whether surgery is a viable option requires adequate medical expertise. You would need to consult a Florida breast surgery specializing in this specific task.
If you know someone who has undergone a similar surgery, you can ask her about her doctor. A direct referral is a good way to locate a capable medical professional. If this were not a possibility, you would need to utilize the Internet to find such a doctor. Go online and look for surgeons practicing in your locality.
How do you choose a doctor for this? Keep in mind three particulars – qualification, specialization and experience. Check whether the surgeon has proper certification to practice in Florida or not. Apart from this, you also need to check accreditation and accomplishments of the doctor.
An initial consultation with the surgeon helps determine whether to opt for him/her or not. Ask any questions and clarify all doubts about the surgery from the doctor. You must understand the details of each aspect of the procedure as well as the pre and post-operative care that you require.
Confirm from your doctors which medications you need to avoid before and after the surgery. When you go for the surgery, ensure that you take with you the test and other reports relevant to it. Follow the instructions of your doctor. It is better if a family member or friend accompanies you before and after the surgery.
A competent surgeon knows how to deal with the side effects of surgery and reduce risks. This is essential for health as well as aesthetic reasons. This is why you need a good medical professional for the task.

A recent study shows that athletes who due to sports or everyday activities have suffered from pain in the elbow or shoulder can get rid of their problems by using lighter weight training.
The study was presented at a meeting of the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine in Keystone, Colorado, and showed that tennis elbow affects nearly three percent of the U.S. population. It is a false belief that only tennis players suffer from tennis elbow, but this is not the case. Although all of us "mortals" may experience tennis elbow if we are not careful.
Timothy F Tyler, assistant researcher at the Nicholas Institute of Sports Medicine and Athletic Trauma in New York City says that the study indicates the fact that light weight training is an excellent tool to deal with tennis elbow.
- Compared with other medical treatments for tennis elbow, such as cortisone injections, which require the presence of medical personnel and more often result in side effects, this treatment is not only cost effective but also saves time in that patients do not need to come to the clinic to get treatment, says Timothy F Tyler.
Have you heard about the soy trend? It protects your heart and reduces the risk of cancer - to name just a few of the health effects. You should eat a soy product every day!
Soya beans, tofu and other soya products - used in Asian cuisine and loved by Western vegetarians. Now there is also a growing interest among the public health.
Soy contains so-called plant estrogens, substances similar to the female hormone estrogen. They protect against menopausal symptoms, osteoporosis and hormone-dependent cancers of breast and prostate. Plant estrogens does not have same effects as estrogen, it only has some of its features. Soy does not make men more feminine, they do not raise the female hormone estrogen and does not lower the male hormone, testosterone.
There has been a controversy about whether women with breast cancer can eat soy, something that many doctors advise against. But several large studies show that it is safe for women with breast cancer, including estrogen-sensitive cancer, to eat soy products. There is even data showing improved prognosis, however, more research is needed before it can be determined.
Like other legumes, soybeans are good sources of protein, fiber, all B vitamins except B12 and the minerals; iron, zinc, magnesium and potassium.
The soybean has a relatively high fat content, 18 percent, but with a lot of polyunsaturated fats, which help to reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease. In addition, it belongs to the few vegetables that have the beneficial fatty acids Omega 3.
Eating soy is a great way to bring down cholesterol, not only by the fats in soy but also by the soy protein. The only downside of soy is that you may get an allergic reaction if you are sensitive, but it is not that common.
The face is one of the most vulnerable parts of the body. Whether you use makeup or not, the skin is still sweating and therefore needs to be cleaned once a day.
Make the ten minutes before bedtime a moment of "mini-spa" time, where you can both unwind and give your skin a thorough washing.
● Soak the skin with little water. Apply cleansing cream or oil on your hands and massage into face and neck.

Stop your thoughts and achieve greater awareness by means of two simple exercises. This are two exercises for peace and harmony:
Exercise 1- How to prevent your thoughts
Meditation's Holy Grail is the inner silence and the absence of thoughts. How can you become aware of the inner stillness that is already in you:
● Close your eyes and be aware of your thoughts for 10-15 seconds.
● Ask yourself the question "where does my next thought come from?" and be aware of what is happening. Notice the little pause that occurs between your question and your next thought.
● Stay alert, stand on the issue from time to time and observe what happens. Now that you noticed the void, the silence between your thoughts, you notice how you feel.
Exercise 2 - Achieve greater awareness
To get a simple and direct experience of how increased awareness contributes to well-being, you can do an experiment with your fingertip.
● Take one finger and hold it so that it touches the middle of the forehead. Pay attention to what you feel where your fingertip touches the forehead. Which is warmest, the finger or the skin on the forehead? Can you feel a pulse? Pay attention to everything you can find where your fingertip meets the forehead, in one minute.
● Now, pay attention how you feel and what is different from the past. Most people feel that their thoughts have become still and the feelings are more harmonious.
