It's great to receive a spa break as a gift, or even book one for yourself as a treat - but if it's your first time, it can be confusing to what to expect and knowing what to wear.
For some spa breaks, you will book your treatments beforehand. At others, you may be given a choice upon arrival. Either way, you should think about what you want to gain from the break - would you like a smooth, rejuvenating facial scrub? Or would you like to relax with a full body mud wrap, for example?
Whatever you decide, don't worry too much about what to wear - just use common sense. If, for example you'd like to have a pedicure, why not try wearing open-toe shoes, so you don't have to worry about smudging your newly painted toenails afterwards? Or if you are booked in for a full body massage, think about what you need to feel comfortable afterwards. It is also worth taking a couple of bathing suits to wear (so that you have a dry one to change into after lunch) and some poolside footwear to avoid getting wet feet.
Make sure you arrive about 10 or 15 minutes before your starting time - this will leave enough time for any paperwork to be completed (they may ask about any medical conditions that could be affected by the treatments) and allow you time to familiarise yourself with the spa facilities. Additionally, if you are late, it will reduce your treatment time down and you have the potential to arrive stressed, which won't help with the relaxation!
Lastly, once you are in the midst of your treatments, don't worry about asking questions if you don't understand why your therapist is doing something, or if you need something changed - like the temperature or music. The whole point of the break is that you relax and focus on yourself, and the therapists are there to help you do that.
